This film, made in 1978, is great fun, (although I actually prefer the show based on it). This was the most expensive film that had ever been made in Japan at the time. I recommend this film if you are a fan of space opera films, and despite the shade thrown on the special effects at the time, considering the technology at the time, I found it enjoyable and well done!

The songs are the Overture, and Melancholy Sailing – both from the musical The Big Adventure of the Fantastic Pirates. I have been trying to choose films where I can use the songs from this musical!
