Most of us around the world, living in this time period, have accessibility to technology and information that people of the past could only dream of. Majority of this information is free. Different cultures or not, there is no excuse. I have seen Japanese news people reporting from New York, and here in Chicago; most people around the world have the same access to our history, culture, and current news events. What is the excuse when there is information at your fingertips, but you somehow miss what is a big deal happening around the world? The only excuse is simple, one does not want, or care to know. However, if asked, I am sure that it is well-known about the racial discrimination going on with Asian people here in the United States. A BL Thai drama also managed to address the racial problems faced here, and mentioned a past black civil rights leader, by name. If I am not mistaken, we have closer relations with Japan than we do with Thailand. So, as I said, what is the excuse? No, it is not funny; and although the mocking of any group is not in any way okay, mind you, the mocking of Black, Latin, and Native people, ends in our death. Asian people are still alive to fight against their tormentors. No matter how many people are "sentenced" to jail or are to be "charged" with a "wrongful" death, our dead people will never come back, and are no longer able to fight for themselves. This says a lot about you as a person. If someone is mocking you, why not deal with them personally, why does an entire group have to pay for someone's else's offense? As I am doing here, you are wrong, but I also CARE to know that all Asian people are NOT responsible for this comment, or even the racism that some take part-in, here in the United States. Just like some of the people in this comment section that thought it was funny. They are just as bad as you are, but would it really be alright for me to go ahead and blame all Asian people because the people here find racial discrimination funny? As many civil rights leaders around the world (young and old) have stated countless times, this is disgusting and inexcusable. NO ONE, for any poorly guided excuse, under the name of racial, gender, sexuality, or religious discrimination, should have the right to strip people of their dignity, dehumanize them, or to, in any way, make it seem as if another's existence is in some way, less than one's own life. Especially considering, this is generally how wars are started, how they are fed, and advertised for decades to come.
You probably don’t know how racial insensitive this is and if you do I’m very disappointed. Black face is nothing but mockery towards African Americans who have been heavily oppressed by others. Please don’t do something like this again and apologize for what you’ve done.
